Hi, I am a native Brooklynite. I am certified through Inelda, have worked at funeral homes, have received my HHA training, and took a 9 month course in death doula and arts. I been a costume designer for the stage and screen for the past 20 years. Many of the skills I have used as a designer are what I use as a doula. Such as, making people comfortable in uncomfortable settings, listening intently to what people are saying, helping create and uphold a calm atmosphere, and being a steady force in a chaotic environment. I have created beautiful ending ceremonies and helped people find healing rituals. Being a Doula is being able to be a silent partner, a family member, an advocate, a knowledgable guide as well as a friend.

How I work
The first thing I do is listen and learn. I am with the person in whatever way is most comfortable to them. If they can talk, we might chat, if they are watching a movie I sit with them, if they are in a stressful environment I may play smoothing music. I am their advocate and their friend.
With the family I aim to help alleviate any confusion that comes from the health care, death care system. We are a team they can take a break and know their loved one is in good care. It can be lonely taking care of someone who is passing and if I can help reduce that feeling a little than I am doing my job.
Once a person has transitioned in some cases I have been with the family afterwards helping figure out the design and details of final arrangements.
Every story comes to an end differently and I am here to help make the process as smooth and comfortable as possible.
