How I work

There's no single "right" moment to call an end-of-life doula. I work with people at many different stages — sometimes for a few days or weeks, sometimes for months or longer, and sometimes for just one conversation that helps clarify what comes next when facing medical uncertainty. A terminal diagnosis is not required.

Some clients arrive to our first meeting knowing exactly what they need: a decision to make, a document to complete, a conversation to have — but finding the language or knowing where to begin is the hard part. Others start without a clear agenda at all. Often, the real priorities only surface once we're talking.

Here's what our work together might actually look like:

Planning and decision-making. Completing advance care planning documents, clarifying your values and wishes around treatment and end-of-life options, and preparing questions for your medical team.

Communication and advocacy. Finding language for hard conversations, navigating discussions about what matters most — with family, friends, or healthcare providers — and making sure your voice stays central throughout.

Legacy and meaning-making. Reflecting on your life, memories, relationships, and what you want to carry forward. This can culminate in a legacy project, including an oral history to leave behind for friends and family, as simple or expansive as feels right.

Vigil support. If you'd like it, I create a calm, intentional space during the dying process itself — helping loved ones be present, understand what they're experiencing, connect meaningfully, and care for themselves through an intense, unfamiliar time.

This work is iterative. We start wherever you are, see what emerges, and adapt as things change.

My job is to sit with you, listen carefully, help make sense of what's unfolding, and find the way forward together.

What families say

Rated 5 out of 5 stars.
"Hannah creates thoughtful, inclusive spaces for conversations about serious illness and end-of-life care that can otherwise feel difficult. I saw firsthand their ability to combine a deeply human-centered approach with current knowledge of best practices in end-of-life and palliative care. Hannah has a particular talent for making complex and nuanced information accessible while honoring the many identities, cultures, and perspectives people bring to these conversations. "
