I became a death doula after losing my father. That loss reoriented everything for me, how I think about time, presence, and what it actually means to show up for someone. I wanted to turn that into something useful, so I trained and became INELDA-certified and have volunteered with hospice patients and families since. I also hold an MSc through the Alef Trust and Liverpool John Moores University, where my research focused on what helps young adults find genuine flourishing after bereavement rather than just getting through it. That work shapes how I sit with people, less about managing a process, more about making room for whatever needs to happen. I founded Bear Witness because I kept seeing the same gap: families who needed this kind of support and had no clear way to find it. So beyond being a doula myself, I built the platform you're reading this on. I'm based in South Norwalk, CT, and work across the greater NYC/Fairfield County corridor.
