Hi, I am a native Brooklynite. I am certified through Inelda, have worked at funeral homes, have received my HHA training, and took a 9 month course in death doula and arts. I been a costume designer for the stage and screen for the past 20 years. Many of the skills I have used as a designer are what I use as a doula. Such as, making people comfortable in uncomfortable settings, listening intently to what people are saying, helping create and uphold a calm atmosphere, and being a steady force in a chaotic environment. I have created beautiful ending ceremonies and helped people find healing rituals. Being a Doula is being able to be a silent partner, a family member, an advocate, a knowledgable guide as well as a friend.
